South Africa's electricity system is changing faster than most people realise. I try to explain what's actually happening. And why.

I'm a Wits mechanical engineer completing a Master of Management in Energy Leadership at Wits Business School. By day, I work in growth and partnerships at Plentify, a demand response and virtual power plant technology company with operations in South Africa, Australia, and the UK.

I write and create as a systems thinker, not an advocate. No green evangelism. No manufactured urgency. The work covers grid economics, market design, distributed energy resources, and the second-order effects of a transition moving faster at the edges than at the centre. I'm interested in how the incentives actually work; what the numbers actually say.

The work spans five areas: grid literacy, household economics and energy bills, comparative markets across South Africa, Australia, and the UK, data explainers grounded in real numbers, and reactive commentary on policy and regulatory developments. LinkedIn explains how the system works. TikTok explains how the system feels. The two platforms are strategically distinct: not format variations of the same content.
